August 12-18
We started the week by finishing our trip in Montana. Monday we went on a beautiful hike to Morrell Falls. We hung out there for lunch, skipped rocks, and found some fish downstream! the rocks in this area are so beautiful! They are red, green, blue, purple, and yellow. They are all over Montana. There is so much natural beauty there.
Later we went canoeing down a shallow river to Seeley Lake. We had a couple of races between canoes. We also saw a couple of beavers, eagles (one caught a fish in the lake!), and a bunch of turtles. On the way home we saw a baby bear running down a dirt road!
That night we went out and had a campfire and made some s'mores. The moon was so bright. It was a beautiful night to end the trip.
The next morning there was an elk and its baby as well as a deer hanging out behind the cabin. I am sure I have seen the most wildlife on this trip than on any other trip I've been on. We went by another lake on our way home and skipped some more rocks. We had a competition and James won with like 12 skips. Everyone did really good. I even got 2 skips! haha
We drove down and met Paul in Brigham city for dinner. After, Paul took me home and the rest of my family carried on their way. It was a great trip.
Friday night I drove down for the Cook reunion on Saturday. Saturday I got up at 6 am to try to get 2 hours of tennis playing in before the reunion. Mom was up already and grabbed Dad. I woke Ben up and he was a good sport and came with us. Ben and I played the parents and lost the first set 1-6. Dad then played singles with Ben and I played with Mom. I was going easy on her at first but she was creaming me! I lost the first set 1-6! I decided that she could handle it and brought the heat for the second set but she still beat me 6-3. In my defense, I haven't played for a while. . My mom still got it! Even with a sore hip.
We got home and Ben showed me his skills that he has been learning at his new job at Honest Eatery. He made me gourmet avocado toast with tomato, mozzarella, and balsamic glaze. Super yummy!
We went to the Cook reunion at a ward house close to East High. Elder Cook was there for the first half and shared his thoughts on Phineas Walcott Cook, who was our ancestor back when the pioneers were settling areas in Utah. He settled a town by Bear Lake and an area near Manti called Goshen. It was his 200th birthday, which was the occasion for the reunion. It was fun to see some cousins I don't usually get to see.
After the reunion we hung out for a little bit, I borrowed some decorations from mom ;) and headed back to Logan for a date with Paul.
Today was Stake Conference. We went to the tabernacle. We heard from some kids going on missions and our favorite talk was about building little habits for eternity and repentance.
Hope you all had a great week! Love you!
